Having students do an evaluation of their group members. Also circling around and listening to each group...showing them that you are engaged in their activities. Give each group member a job in the small group ensuring that they are being a part of the group. Journaling about what they predict or describe what they are doing for the day and then also return to the journal at the end of the day and journal about what they accomplished. They could use their flip cameras to monitor their work, knowing they must record the work they are doing.
